Taro and Mushroom Cake

Ingredients
  • 10 Black mushroom
  • 1⅓ lb. Taro
  • 3 tbsp Sediment of flour (or cornstarch)

Ingredients A:

  • 1 Green onion
  • 1 Star anise
  • ½ tsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Soysauce
  • ½ tsp Wine
  • ½ cup Soup stock
Preparation
  1. Soak black mushroom till soft, remove stems put into a large bowl add “Ingredients A”, steam for 15 minutes.
  2. Cut taro into slices, steam for 20 minutes, smash and mix with sediment of flour (mix first with ½ cup boiling water), ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp sesame oil, some pepper, 1½ tbsp oil, mix well, devide into 10 balls.
  3. Splash flour on black mushroom. Wrap mushroom with taro dough to form a flat cake, dip a little cornstarch, deep fry in hot oil to golden brown, remove and drain, serve with brown pepercorn powder or ketchup.
