Shrimp in Garlic Sauce

Ingredients
  • 12 jumbo shrimp
  • 3 tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1½ tsp. sugar
  • 1½ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tomato
  • 1/2 head lettuce or broccoli
  • 1 tbsp. fish sauce
  • 1 lime (optional)
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 5 tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1/4 cup water
Preparation

Peel and devein shrimp. Slice cucumber. Cut lettuce into 3 inch squares. Slice tomato and cut lime into quarters. Set aside until needed.

Preheat wok over medium high heat. Add oil and wait until hot. Add minced garlic. Stir until lightly browned. Add shrimp, black pepper, sugar and fish sauce. Stir a few times. Add water and continue to stir until shrimp turn pink. Add butter and stir until butter has melted. Place on serving dish. Eat with fresh cucumber, lettuce and tomato. Squeeze lime juice over shrimp. Serves 2 to 3.

If you choose to use broccoli instead of lettuce, place 2 oz. of water in the same wok. Bring to boil and stir in brocoli for 45 seconds. Remove and place on serving plate beside shrimp.
