Thai Sweet and Sour Shrimp

Ingredients
  • 15-20 large shrimp
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 3 fresh chili peppers
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1½ tbsp. fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp. catsup
  • 1/3 tsp. salt
  • 3 oz. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. msg (optional)  
  • 1 tbsp. corn starch thickened with cold water
  • 2½ oz. vinegar
  • 3 oz. water
  • 3 tbsp. cooking oil
Preparation

Clean and devein shrimp. Cut cucumber in 1/2" sticks about 2" long. Cut tomato, onion and celery into 1/2" slices. Slice chilli into long strips.

Heat oil in wok on hot stove. When oil is hot, add all vegetables and garlic. Stir for 30 seconds. Add sugar, salt, catsup, fish sauce, msg, vinegar, water and shrimp. Stir until boiling. Add corn starch. Stir in a circle until thickened. Remove from heat and place on serving plate.
