Kahnom Jeep (Thai Dumplings)
- 3 oz. crab meat
- 6 large shrimp
- 6 oz. ground pork
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp. water
- 1½ tbsp. clear soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
- 1 tbsp. cooking oil
- 1½ tbsp. corn starch
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 package wonton wrappers
Sauce:
- 4 tbsp. white vinegar
- 2 tbsp. black soy sauce
- 2 tbsp. hot water
- 2 tbsp. thinly sliced ginger
- 1 tsp. sugar
Chop shrimp until very fine. Place in a mixing bowl with crab meat and ground pork. Add corn starch, black pepper, garlic salt, cooking oil, soy sauce, water and egg. Stir until well mixed and firm.
To fill dumpling, hold wrapper in the palm of one hand. Place 1 tablespoon of meat in center of wrapper. With the fingers of other hand, lift the edges of the wrapper over the filling. Squeeze gently to close top. Place on a plate suitable for use in steamer. Place steamer over high heat. When water has begun to boil, place plate of dumplings in steamer. Steam for 25 minutes. Serve with sauce described below.
Sauce:
Stir all ingredients together and place in sauce dish. Dip dumplings in sauce before eating.
